Questa tavola
compare nel primo volume della serie
"Dinosauri". Si tratta del cast del primo volume al gran
completo, in scala reciproca e con la sagoma di un essere umano medio
dell'altezza di 175cm.
E' stata dura trovare un gruppo eterogeneo di animali che rappresentasse
la fauna della fine del Triassico tutti risalenti allo strato norico.
Per esempio il grosso ittiosauro fu inserito solo quando lo storyboard
era già completo, prendendo il posto del bizzarro Tanystrophaeus.
Ecco il cast.
• Il primo da sinistra è il minuscolo Oligokyphus,
un cinodonte. Nella storia fa una comparsata.
• Dietro e a destra di Oligokyphus, Hyperodapedon,
un Rhynchosauridae. Anche lui è una comparsa.
• Davanti ad Hyperodapedon ecco lo pterosauro Eudimorphodon
ranzii, il più antico pterosauro conosciuto. E' protagonista
della scena prologo.
• Immediatamente a destra di Eudimorphodon, in basso,
Nothosaurus giganteus, che compare in alcune vignette del prologo.
• Dietro Nothosaurus ecco il teropode ceratosauriano
Liliensternus liliensterni, "antagonista" della storia.
Ricostruito da uno scheletro molto frammentario, mi sono basato sia
sul suo affine Dilophosaurus che sul successivo Cryolophosaurus.
Per la colorazione mi sono ispirato ad alcune specie di Iene.
• All'immediata destra di Liliensternus ecco il protagonista
del primo volume, Plateosaurus longiceps. Per la sua livrea
ho tratto ispirazione da quella delle Gazzelle.
• Il più grosso di tutti, sullo sfondo, è un ittiosauro
della famiglia Shastasauridae, protagonista del prologo "marino"
della prima storia.
• In alto, in volo, un Peteinosaurus zambellii. |

This plate
is from the first volume of the
series "Dinosaurs". You can see the whole cast from the
first volume in scale with the outline of an average 175cm tall human
being.
It was hard to find a diverse group of animals that represent the late
Triassic fauna all dating back to the Norian layer. For example, the
large ichthyosaur was inserted only when the storyboard was already
completed, taking the place of the bizarre Tanystrophaeus.
Here is the cast.
• The first from left is the tiny Oligokyphus, a cynodont.
In the story it makes only a "cammeo".
• Behind and to the right of Oligokyphus, Hyperodapedon,
a Rhynchosauridae. He also is a guest appearance.
• In front of Hyperodapedon you can see the pterosaur
Eudimorphodon ranzii, the oldest known pterosaur. Its one of
the stars of the prologue scene.
• Immediately to the right of Eudimorphodon, Nothosaurus
giganteus, which appears briefly in the prologue.
• Behind Nothosaurus there is the ceratosaurian theropod
Liliensternus liliensterni, "antagonist" of this
story. Reconstructed from a very fragmented skeleton, I based my restoration
on its relative Dilophosaurus and on the earlier Cryolophosaurus.
For the coloration I was inspired by some species of hyenas.
• On the right of Liliensternus there is the star of
the first volume, Plateosaurus longiceps. For its livery I
have drawn inspiration from that of a Gazelle.
• The biggest of all on the background is an ichthyosaur from
Shastasauridae family, protagonist of the "marine" prologue
of the first story.
• Flying on top of them you can see Peteinosaurus zambellii. |
