Questa tavola
compare nel secondo volume della
serie "Dinosauri".
E' una illustrazione che mostra in sintesi i 4 modi principali inventati
dai vertebrati per volare. Da sinistra a destra abbiamo lo pterosauro
del giurassico superiore Cyncorhamphus con le sue ali di pelle
tese tra le zampe posteriori ed il 4° dito della mano; la Nottola
(il più comune pipistrello italiano) con ali di pelle tese tra
tutte le dita della mano; la Poiana, un uccello con ali di penne; ed
infine una macchina volante umana, uno Spitfire MkXIV della seconda
guerra mondiale (come sempre i numeri di identificazione sono fittizi).
E' stato divertente realizzare questa tavola, soprattutto perchè
ho avuto l'occasione di discostarmi dagli usuali soggetti su cui sono
stato impegnato per più di 3 anni. |

This plate
is from the second volume of the
series "Dinosaurs".
This illustration shows the 4 main ways invented by vertebrates to fly.
From left to right you can see: the upper Jurassic pterosaur Cyncorhamphus
with skin wings stretched between the legs and the 4th "hand"
finger; one of the most common Italian bat with skin wings stretched
between all the hand fingers; a buzzard, a bird with feathers wings;
and finally a human flying machine, a WW2 Spitfire MkXIV (as always,
the identification numbers are fictitious).
It was fun to make this plate, especially because I had the opportunity
to depart from the usual subjects on which I'm engaged for the last
3 years. |
